With a wide array of stalls featuring fresh produce, handmade crafts, and delicious food vendors, it’s a wonderful place to immerse yourself in the local scene and support the region’s artisans and growers.
Over Halloween weekend the Red River Market had a final celebration indoors at the local West Acres Mall. People showed up in costumes and enjoyed the final market day of the season. This was a great way to escape the below-freezing weather and invite people to explore what the vendors have to offer indoors.

Marge’s Bar calls itself “the coziest little bar you have probably never heard of.” This is a very fitting name because this bar is tiny, cozy, and not easy to find. After walking back and forth down Roberts Alley a few times, I was convinced that the bar must have closed because I could not find the entrance. I finally found the entrance and it was definitely worth the search! This bar is small, but the vibes are great. Just enough people must know about Marge’s Bar because it was packed with people enjoying cocktails and sporting costumes to celebrate Halloween. If you are a cocktail lover, do not miss this hidden gem in Fargo!

Babb’s Coffee House
Babb’s Coffee House is located in the heart of Downtown Fargo, but you immediately feel the vibes of Seattle when you walk into the building. My favorite part of the coffee shop is the large “Public Market Center” sign that resembles the sign at Pike Place Market in Seattle. Babb’s coffee is roasted and air lifted fresh every week from Seattle to give a smooth and consistent taste every time. I immediately noticed their large selection of all-natural syrups and over 25 market spice teas that are shipped fresh from Seattle. What sets Babb’s apart is not just their top-notch beverages but also their commitment to supporting local artists and musicians. This blend of caffeine, culture, and creativity makes Babb’s more than a coffee house; it’s a cultural and artistic melting pot.
Their menu is another reason for their popularity. In addition to the finest coffee and espresso drinks, they offer an array of fresh-baked pastries, breakfast items, sandwiches, and salads.
Blackbird Woodfire Pizza
Blackbird is a family owned restaurant who thrives on their artisan pizza, tapas, and craft beer. They also have an array of salads on their menu that pair perfectly with their pizzas. Blackbird uses handmade pizza dough made from North Dakota wheat and milled flour. This dedication to high-quality, sustainable ingredients is evident in the flavors of their dishes, making it a standout among Fargo’s restaurant offerings.
The heart of Blackbird Woodfire Pizza lies in its commitment to crafting exceptional pies using a traditional wood-fired oven. The result is pizzas with a perfect balance of crispy, charred crust and delicious toppings. From classic favorites like Margherita to inventive creations featuring locally sourced ingredients, Blackbird’s menu caters to a wide range of tastes.
In addition to its delicious food, Blackbird offers an extensive selection of craft beers and a well-curated wine list. They have a large selection of pairings for your pizza of choice. Marge’s Diner
Marge’s Diner is located in the heart of Downtown Fargo and specializes in breakfast, brunch and lunch options daily. They are known for their extensive salad bar and bottomless mimosas, but the rest of their menu deserves just as much credit. Although the breakfast and brunch menu is not extensive, there are enough options to satisfy whatever your heart is craving. Plus, they bring out more brunch options on the weekends. Marge’s also has a bar that serves beer, wine, and spirits for in-house diners and event attendees. I tried their “famous” breakfast lasagna, and it was extremely tasty! I would highly recommend checking out this breakfast and lunch spot if you are in downtown Fargo.
Bar Down Sports Bar and Restaurant
Bar Down Sports Bar and Restaurant was established in 2020 and is a family-friendly hot spot located in West Fargo. The name of the restaurant comes from a hockey term, Bar Down, which happens when the puck hits the crossbar and goes down into the net for a goal. The owners created this restaurant to be hockey-focused as it is very close to the West Fargo Sports Arena, which hosts major tournaments and brings in large crowds throughout the year.
Bar Down is a great destination for both sports-lovers and area residents alike. They offer 24 HDTV’s, a pool table, arcade area, and even a beautiful outdoor seating area with a garage door that opens with hanging lights. The menu was extensive, offering a lot of “typical” bar food including burgers, soups, salads, and pizza. I had a great experience visiting Bar Down and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. If you are looking for a sports bar to watch an upcoming game and eat good food, Bar Down is definitely the place to be!

Located in the heart of downtown Fargo, Nichole’s has become a local institution and a favorite destination for those seeking a sweet treat or a cozy place to enjoy coffee.
