Best Ways to Market Your Business
Starting a new business or trying to grow an existing business can be frustrating and knowing the best ways to market your business can help you grow properly and acquire the customers you need and want.
Customer acquisition is important because without customers there are no sales and without sales there is no business. Both a brick & mortar business and an online business need customers to survive.
Keeping in mind that what works for one business or business type might not be effective on all.
Use Social Media to Market Your Business
Most businesses either on or offline these days have a website, and that is great! But, there is also this thing called “social media” that many business owners are either scared of, or just don’t know enough about and think they don’t need it.
Social media is needed in most businesses, because social media is where most people spend their time these days.
Yes, your business either online or offline can be found by a Google search, most of the time, but growing a following on social media is a great way to market your business.
Join Facebook and start a Facebook page, to promote your business on. Sign up for Instagram and grow a following there by sharing things about your business. Even Twitter can be helpful to grow a following.
Joining LinkedIn is also a huge game changer depending on your business. Take a look at my LinkedIn profile and see how I’ve done it.
Whatever social media you use, is better than no social media at all. Choose whatever fits your business needs the best.
Paid Advertisement
Have you ever heard the saying, you have to spend money to make money. While that is true to some point, you sure don’t want to spend more than you will make.
When you advertise your business, it’s to gain customers but there is a calculation one should use to make sure they are not over spending. Customer acquisition cost can be easily figured out with the right tools or help.
Running Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads or placing ads on other websites like your local towns website or in the local newspaper.
All great ways to put your business in front of those looking for what you have.
Online Directories
Sounds like old school, but really there are more online directories out there still than one might think.
For example, if you are a blogger and trying to build a travel blog and you need to find people who like to travel that might buy your travel e-book or book travel on your site, you can find travel directories where you can submit your links.
Places like Yelp or online directories can help your business grow, and then people can leave reviews as well.
Product Giveaways
Going sorta hand in hand with creating social media accounts, is giveaways.
Giveaways are hot and it’s a great way to get new people to follow or like a social account, or visit your website, or even share your post/giveaway with others which helps you be seen by more people.
Example, I run another travel blog ( That Traveling Chick ) and was trying to grow my social following.
I set up a $25 Amazon gift card giveaway and asked those entering to visit the Facebook page, like the post, share the post and tag 2 friends.
Gaining likes and followers helped my brand be seen by more people. Win for me, and win for the winner!
Final Thoughts
There are literally dozens and dozens of tried and true ways to market your business. Basically it all boils down to what kind of business you run, and what kind of customers you are looking for.
Do your research, talk to others online and join Facebook groups. Look for other networking groups for your type of business or for your area the business is in.
Gaining customers won’t happen overnight, but it will happen when you are consistent.
