There are amazing gems everywhere wrapped in a rainbow of colors everywhere you look. You’re going to have to check out the following places when visiting Arizona!
Best Destinations in Arizona to Visit
When it comes to amazing views, Arizona will always be at the top of the list. With 31 state parks, 6 national forests, and some of the best national parks in the US, there are so many choices to plan your next trip.
Here are some of the best destinations in Arizona to visit.
1. Sedona
Back in the day, geological forces cut deep through the Colorado Plateau and created the landscape that has made Sedona one of the best places to visit. With river canyons, red rock formations, and desert spires standing tall, you’ll love seeing every bit of this on your trip.
There are so many things to do here that it’s hard to narrow it down. Hiking in the desert is amazing but it’s also full of cultural centers, museums, and more.
2. The Wave
This is one of the best hiking trails in the world. It’s on the border of Arizona and Utah and has a view of stunning colors all over the rocks. It gets its name because the colors make the rocks look like waves on them.
The trail is 6.4 miles in length and can be hard to do because of the hot weather. You do have to have tickets to hike here and that can be hard to do. Plan ahead!
3. White Pocket
If you’re unable to snag tickets to The Wave, this is a great choice as well! With crazy and bright rock formations, it’s a hidden gem in Arizona.
The Navajo sandstone is composed of orange, pinks, and reds and will almost make you feel like you’ve arrived on the surface of another planet.
4. Havasupai
You’re not going to want to miss this turquoise-colored water that is pouring out of the red rock. This is literally such an amazing spot. The Havasupai Falls are breathtaking, and you’re going to have to see them to believe how stunning they are.
There are five waterfalls in total in the Havasu Canyon:
- Fifty Foot Falls
- Mooney Falls
- Beaver Falls
- Havasu Falls
- New Navajo Falls
Each one just seems to get more and more lovely. Make sure that you’re respectful as they’re set on Native land and guarded by the Havasupai Tribe.
5. Grand Canyon National Park’s North Rim Section
You really do have to plan a trip here. It’s one of the natural wonders of the world and seeing it at least once in your life is a must.
Many flock to the South Rim but the North Rim offers more seclusion and stunning views. This part of the part is often overlooked by travelers which make for a great relaxed visit.
6. Antelope Canyon
This is the most photographed canyon in the Southwest and has one of the most iconic trails, too. This canyon was created by floodwaters flowing through the cracks and it produced an amazing swirl of colors.
7. Petrified Forest National Park
It’s hard to believe the beauty of this park without actually being there. The logs are petrified and offer a rainbow of colors and sparkles that look like diamonds.
The biggest draw is The Painted Desert and once you see it, you’ll know why.
You can drive through this park and get out of your car here and there to hike the trails and more.
I hope this list of the best destinations in Arizona helps you plan your trip! There is so much more to see as this is just a start!
